With its 127 turns per square centimeter†(127 TPI), the casing in the tire forms the basis for a very flexible and lightweight tire that constantly has the best possible grip on the ground. The many fine weaves are covered by a thin but very strong textile from edge to edge of the tire. Hutchinson calls this layer “Hardskin”, which further protects the tire against abrasion from flints or other sharp edges to which the tire is exposed.

The Hardskin coating is from edge to edge of the tire, and therefore provides the most optimal protection.

The rubber compound, or compound as it is called, is made with the technique and mixture that Hutchinson calls Bi-Compound.

A technique where you have a harder compound in the middle of the rolling area of the tire than on the sides. The harder compound ensures the lowest possible rolling resistance when straight ahead. The softer compound on the sides of the tire ensures the rider optimal grip on the asphalt when cornering.

The Tundra tire is a folding tire that can either be run with a tube in the tire, or as a tubeless setup where the tube in the tire is replaced by a latex liquid and air as a sealant between the tire and the wheel rim.
